Africadelic Festival 2023 | ONIPA, Bab L’Bluz + Roufaida

25/05/2023 @ 19:00 - 23:30

On 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟱, 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝘆, we have a dazzling program of powerful acts for you in 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗵𝘂𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗶𝗻!

We start the evening with Surinamese-Dutch artist, activist and feminist 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁, who will show her short film 𝗟𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗶𝘀 (2022, 18′), about the alleged invisibility of Black women in the Négritude movement and the First International Congress of Black Writers and Artists (1956) in particular, and discuss her experience and struggle as a Black women in Dutch society.

Then, from 19:30 hrs onwards, we have no less than three (!) consecutive concerts for you. First, the Rotterdam-based singer-songwriter 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗮 will create an alternative pop universe with North African elements, inspired by Arabic poets, gnawa grooves with guitar, guembri, vintage Riffian cassette samples and beats. After her performance, the French-Moroccan quartet 𝗕𝗮𝗯 𝗟’𝗕𝗹𝘂𝘇 will take the stage with their unique mix of traditional music from Morocco, such as gnawa and chaabi, with modern styles such as blues, rock and funk. With Yousra Mansour as radiant centerpiece, 𝗕𝗮𝗯 𝗟’𝗕𝗹𝘂𝘇 honors, in a non-traditional way, the traditional North African blues straight from the heart of the Maghreb. Finally, 𝗢𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗮, a collaboration between multi-instrumentalist artist and rapper K.O.G (Kweku Sackey) and Tom Excell, will capture the audience with music from both Ghana and London, blending genres from the analogue tones of Afrobeat, Highlife and Soukous to Afrofuturistic rap and electronics.

And if this is not enough, from 23:00 hrs until late, there will be an 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 with 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗼 𝗕𝗮𝗺 and 𝗕𝗕𝗕. In other words, this is an Africadelic evening you really don’t want to miss! 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 for the evening can now be purchased via https://bit.ly/africadelic2023-roufaida-bablbluz-onipa.
